When we recently had the opportunity to film a time-lapse in Yorkshire for SIP Build UK, we jumped at the chance. SIP Build UK are one of the UK’s leading SIP panel makers, their latest project is 5 houses in Driffield, Yorkshire.
SIP stands for Structural Insulated Panels and this fairly new concept is the latest innovation for residential and commercial builds in the construction industry.
The panels consist of an insulated foam core sandwiched between two structural facings and are manufactured in factory environments. This method of build means that the weatherproof shell of a build can be installed on site just a few days after the ground works are complete.
Not only does this method save time with builds, it uses less timber than timber frames and is one of the most economical and eco friendly forms of construction….win, win if you ask us!
You’ll see from the footage we have taken, with both the drone and the time-lapse cameras, this method really is genius. The speed in which a project can be completed is unbelievable and the benefits of building in this way go on and on.
SIP insulation not only exceeds the current Building Regulation requirements on its own but the foam insulation has an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) rating of zero as well as a low Global Warning Potential (GWP).
It really does seem that building in this way is the future of construction, not only saving time, money and labour but enabling more versatility within a project. Due to SIP’s strength and ease of connectivity, it lends itself perfectly to less conventional design such as sloping roofs.
The team at SIP Build UK were keen to get drone footage as well as the time-lapse. The time lapse shows the process and simplicity of building in this way whereas the drone captured some great aerial shots of the site.
