On the ball with Mansfield Town and Woodhead
Some days are just a bit different!
When our client, Robert Woodhead Ltd, said their sub contractor, Lukes and Godwin, had invited players from Mansfield Town FC to a job they were working on in Mansfield, we were of course excited – well there’s a reason we’re called Stag you know!
The managing director of Lukes and Godwin, Steve Middleton, is also on the Board at Mansfield Town FC having been a fan for more than 50 years. Speaking to the club he had managed to get hold of some match day tickets to give away to the pupils o f Asquith School, where Woodhead and his firm have been working over the past few months. But he didn’t just want to hand them out! He thought it was important to give the pupils a chance to meet some of the stars at the club and perhaps have a kick around with Mansfield’s mascot, Sammy Stag, as part of the club’s community involvement programme.
With Sammy Stag attending the event, Woodhead site manager, Paul Cross, had given the kids a challenge to design their favourite character. They planned to select 25 of the best entries to win an adult and child’s ticket to a match against Hartlepool on 21st November. With more than 50 entries, the kids had really gone to town, featuring characters like Sammy Stag, Elsa and Anna from Frozen, Batman, Ninja Turtles and Mickey Mouse, the list goes on!
Stag went along to help manage the photocall event, taking lots of our own photographs to be used by the media after the event, in Mansfield Town’s programme and for the club’s website and social media. Working alongside the Stags’ press officer, we ensured the event was not only covered by photographs, but also a video to highlight all the benefits of working with the community.
